Care guide

How to care for your piece.

Solid teak and suarwood are living materials. With minimal care they age beautifully for generations. Below the basics per material.

Solid teak

Care for hand-carved teak

Teak develops a silver-grey patina outdoors and keeps its golden-brown tone indoors. Both are correct, both are beautiful.

  1. 01Indoor: dust weekly with a soft dry cloth. Avoid aggressive cleaners.
  2. 02Indoor oil: apply teak oil every 6 to 12 months for a warmer tone, leave untreated for a quieter matte finish.
  3. 03Outdoor: no treatment needed. Teak weathers to silver-grey naturally and is resistant to rain and sun.
  4. 04Outdoor refresh: if you prefer the original golden tone, sand lightly and reapply teak oil once a year.
  5. 05Stains: blot fresh stains immediately with a damp cloth. For older marks, lightly sand with fine-grit paper.
  6. 06Cracks: small surface cracks are normal as the wood adjusts to its new climate. They stop after the first year and do not affect strength.

Solid suarwood

Care for suarwood live-edge tables

Suarwood is a dense tropical hardwood with strong grain contrast. It is hand-finished with a matte protective coating and asks little maintenance.

  1. 01Dust weekly with a soft dry cloth. Use a slightly damp cloth for everyday cleaning, then dry immediately.
  2. 02Avoid placing hot pans or wet glasses directly on the surface. Use coasters and trivets.
  3. 03Annual oiling: apply hardwood oil once a year to nourish the wood and refresh the matte finish.
  4. 04Direct sunlight: avoid extended direct sunlight, which can lighten the natural color over time.
  5. 05Spills: blot immediately with a soft cloth. Wine, oil and water rings can be removed with a soft sand and re-oil.
  6. 06Indoor use only: suarwood tables are made for indoor environments. Covered terraces are fine, direct rain is not.
